Thanks Jeff. I am not thinking of capturing to the HD with the OS on so as to edit it there. Simply as a location to capture to. Once captured, I would move it to my main computer for editing.
This is what I did in the situation I referred to in my first post. My options are either to do this, or capture, as I have said, to an external drive thru the laptop. Or, if capturing to the HD with the OS is a bad idea, partition my existing drive so it has a section dedicated to video capture. |

OK Renton, I get it. Sure it would work. If it doesn't there's something wrong or out of the ordinary with the equipment. I do that all the time, transfer files onto one PC while I work on another and then move the files later. I don't do it to the OS drive cause I have others to choose from.
That is probably an ideal solution for what you need to do short of using another PC. |
