avi codecs?

whats the best avi codecs for hdv to give good quality?

What are your requirements and goals? The highest quality, of course, is afforded by lossless compression (e.g., huffYUV or MSU Lossless)

I'd recommend Cineform as an avi codec that is useful in most apps, can be used for archive, etc. Easy to work with, reasonably fast render, super quality, and can withstand many recompressions.
