Preserving colour spaces with the Lagarith codec
Ok, I gather Lagarith has extra provisions for preserving colour space, but I have absolutely no idea what settings to use to get it to work in my situation. I know it supports RGB24, but is it irrelevent whether or not the video is in studio RGB or computer RGB?
What I want to do is this: 1) Convert an event of a .m2t file from the Vegas 6 timeline into Lagarith format. 2) Use AVIsytnh to feed this to VirtualDub 3) Apply a the deshaker filter 4) Output as Lagarith 5) Swap in the Lagarith file into the previous location of the original event. Are there any tips anyone can provide for maintaining the colourspace throughout this workflow? It might well be worth mentioning here that the support I have had from the very knowledgeable patrons of this site has be incredibley generous and absolutely invaluable. There is some weird syncronicity going on that here I bumped into one of the guys that had a big hand in designing the architecture for the system that first got me into video. Perhaps I should not be so gleeful about that as I sit in a tiny room, my production over budget and surrounded by the equipment of my studio stacked almost to the ceiling, while I look for a YMCA that has wifi access... So yeah, thanks for everything guys! When and if I manage to get my film out, I will come back and tell you all about it! Cheers, Rob, |

RGB is RGB. Just use RGB24. It will be unchanged by the time you return to VegaS

Cheers man. I thought it might be, but there are always these unknown variables that crop up from nowhere with these things.
