limit on number of clips?
Hi,
I'm starting to play around with time-lapse. I tried to put about 3000 short clips (0.5 sec each) on the time line but Vegas 7 (latest build) keeps crashing, sometimes saying memory is low. I am running XP pro on a Intel Quad 4 Q6600 with 4 Gig memory. Does Vegas not like too many clips on a time-line? Thanks for any help.

Hi Steve,
Does Vegas crash when you add the clips to the timeline or when you try and play? If it's the former, have you tried adding the clips in batches? Anything else major going on in the background? I haven't hit 3000 (yet!) but I have been up to around 1800 of varying lengths, all much longer than 0.5s. Didn't have a problem. I have a Q6700 and 2Gb. In fact, I think that project was on my last pc, P4 3.4GHz with 2Gb. Cheers, Ian . . . |

We've hit those numbers before, but the *type* of clip matters.
What format were these? |

The clips are just raw DV from my pdx10.
I can get all the clips on the time-line by adding about 500 at a time. But I get the crashes when trying to edit, for example, expand the time line and take out some bad clips. The crashes seem pretty random. I stopped my usual multitasking but still had the problem.
