32bit or 64 bit

Hi everyone!! First thread, love this site!

Switching from a dual core mac 1.25 to and quad 6600 running Vegas 7.0.
Just wondering about Vista and the whole 32 / 64 bit thing.

1.Im wondering can i use the full 4 cores with 32bit vista or do i have to have a 64 bit OS

2.Im thinking of getting 4 gig of ram down the line, but at the minute im starting at 2 gig. Can vista hp run 4 gigs of ram??

3. Will the power of my computer effect the encoding/picture of my final DVD.
Sorry having lots of problems with the quality of my final DVDs. Have Z1 running fcp & dvdsp. Goasting effect when panning, Crap quality at 90min best quality encode.

Anyone who can help?

Cheers Niall

1. 32-bit Vista will use all four cores.

2. I find 2GB fine on Vista. I had 1GB for quite a while and it wasn't quite enough. 4GB will be utilized by 32-bit Vista (the maximum possible) but only 2GB is available to programs. The other 2GB is reserved for the kernel stuff - all the hardware interactions etc.

3. No - just the time it takes.

HTH!
