HC1 not being recognized by Vegas 6 ?

I just got my camera back from repair and win XP recognizes the HC1 when it is plugged into the firewire - the only problem is that Sony 6 says - DEVICE NOT AVAILABLE even after I change the device settings to IEEE-Mpg-2TS (or something like that).

Any ideas why it isn't seen? What should I do?

Weird enough, it captures from the HC1 in DV mode, but not in HDV capture mode...
