Anyway to mute while capturing?
Honestly for most of my stuff I'm importing I don't even use the sound and put music over it, but I still keep the audio, but while I'm capturing I'm still doing other stuff on my computer (listening to music for said-video) and It's distracting with the audio in the background... I'm just trying to figure out how I can just mute the sound while it's capturing...
I muted the "master volume" nothing is really helping... lol... I have 5 more tapes to capture not to mention I'll be doing this for the next projects too... |

Nope.
Either mute your entire computer, or live with the capture sound. It might be your sound card software has routing options, in which case a mute could work.

Isn't there a menu item in there to turn off audio monitoring in the Capture app? (I don't have it in front of me at the moment)

Haha I have an Audigy 2 ZS (decent sound card) but didn't find a routing option, I'll look through the menu some more...

Just turn the sound off on your comp, and then unlink the video and the audio from each other, and do what you want with it.

We also use Scenalyzer Live for DV capturing and it DOES have a "mute" option to kill the speakers while capturing. We use that option all the time at Church.

Seems like a fairly simple option, I figured Vegas would have it...
I just plugged my headphones into my ipod... still kinda lame... |

Did I misunderstand? You want to capture both the video and audio...you just don't to listen to it while it's capturing. No?
Unless the video capture app has changed since version 3, the Readme implies you can do it. Is there a Preview Audio choice under the Options menu? (I'm still not at home to check myself.) Turning that off should...well...turn the audio preview off. If that's what you want. Which is how I read the orginal post. |

For DV, you can turn off Audio Preview.
For HDV you cannot. You cannot separate audio/video during capture, there is no way to capture video without audio. It's been so long that I've captured DV, I failed to consider it as a possibility in the question. Apologies if I created confusion.
