Text effect question?

There is a rather simple text effect im trying to produce, but I just cant figure it out. Its probably stupid, but Im just a newb! Here is the video:

Im just trying to do something like the name that comes up "Wally Parks NHRA Founder". I want to do something like the red and gray bars that come up behind the text like they did, and also have it scroll on and off the screen. Can Vegas do this, or am I gonna have to get creative with photoshop or something?

I dont see why you cant do it using multiple video tracks for the different lines of text, put fades on the begining and end of the events and drop transitions on the fades. Use pan/crop to postion the text. The coloured bars could be produced using vegas generated media and pan/crop or track motion. That's how I'd do it anyway...

Something called Digital Juice. Those are animated lower thirds that you purchase as an overlay. Sorry to say it, but Vegas might be able to do that, but it would take a lot of work and a lot of photoshoped layers.

actually it won't take lots of layers and photoshop. Follow Tony's intructions to get you started and while you might need to tweak it a bit his guidelines will work just fine.
