Audio levels from other programs affecting Vegas?

Here's one I haven't seen mentioned here yet. For the longest time now, I've noticed that the audio levels on other media players (namely Windows Media and Real Player, Win Amp) can affect the audio level in Vegas. Not as far as clip level or output, but monitoring level. Say I have my slider on the WMP set to halfway--then I open Vegas and listen to something, it sounds like I turned my speakers down or something. Ditto real player. Is there a setting to change this?
