WEVA - Las Vegas?

Hey all..............

Just wondering how many of us are heading to WEVA this year. I've never been before nor am i a WEVA member.

Just wondering if it's worth me coming from Australia for?

Cheers

Ryan

I'm going! This will be my 3rd WEVA. Australia hu? I don't even want to guess the cost of a flight to Vegas from there!

This is how I look at WEVA or any convention for that matter:

Your first year or two the conventions are great because you are really interested in all the seminars and workshops being offered. After that second year you start to only go to select seminars and spend most of your time networking with other videographers.
WEVA has always been beneficial to me. Every year I walk away making money through networking with other professionals. Selling training material, shooting for them, training them on Glidecam/SmoothShooter gear, etc. Plus I've made a lot of friends who are always there to help me out when I need it.

I think you being from Australia, it would be difficult to come every year but I think it would be worth it at least once. I know someone from South Africa who made the trip last year and he really enjoyed it. Because of cost and timing, it's difficult for him to return be he has plans to do so in the future.

It's about $2000 incl taxes through either Qantas or United. Not that bad. I can claim some back come tax time anyway.

Plus i have a friend in New Orleans i'd love to visit!

Yeah the seminars would be of great interest to me and just meeting other people in the industry & chatting how they go about their business.

I think it'll be worth it.

I just got a email back from WEVA saying it'll be around the $260 mark for members & around the $400 mark for non members. Not that bad really, and the AUS$ dollar is pretty healthy compared to the US$ at the moment so it's probably the best time to do it!

Yeah.................i think i'll see you there!
