Servicing Cameras?
How many of you routinely service your camera (heads cleaned, check up) every year? How often do you service your camera?
Just wondering if I should bring mine in for a routine service, even though I only shot about 10 weddings this year (first year in the biz, wanted to start slow to get feet wet!). It's a Canon XL-2 - bought it last summer - never been serviced - probably 150 hours use on it. Still runs like a champ, no issues yet. Thoughts? Ryan |

2 schools of thought.
One, If it ain't broke don't fix it Two, send it in regularly for service. I mostly belong to the 2nd school. I put a lot of hours on my gear and want to make sure the heads are properly cleaned, and aligned and just have a general look see inside which I'm not qualified to do so once a year off they go. One at a time though cause even in the deadest of dead times sometimes you get a last minute call for something. It's really up to you but with only 150 hours and I'll assume you "baby" your baby pretty well you should be OK until next year...BUT if you want to make sure then send it in. To me it's cheap peice of mind to have my cams looked at. Just my $.03 worth (cost of living increase) Don |
