How Do You Do It?

How do you guys' or gals ,conceal, the mic. in the church, when you get a "StoneAge Clergyman", who won't let the Ceremony, be recorded? This is very rare, I know.
But apart from, hiding the transmitter, in the Mothers' handbag, or even her hat, I've done that! can you offer any better advice.

Mike
P.S bearing in mind, they might have got online, please e-mail me!

First i check wht system theyre running. If theyre runnign sennys or Shures, ill bring in my reciever and set up a tap and feed from their internals.. ;) i usually sneak around churches for abotu half an hour and check out the sound system.
Other times, if teh clergy says no mics, i mic the groom anyway. Mr Priest aint about to rip off a mic from a groom in the middle of a ceremony, however i HAVE had a Nazi priest tell the photographer and myself off for filming during he sermon.. complete nut job he was.. but anyway..

Concealing.. well transmitter always on teh small of the grooms back.. (on the belt above the ass.. I try not to have the mic INSIDE the coat, as u usually get muffled sound, but i tryu to clip it in the sternum area on the vest (if hes wearing one) and jsut poking out from the coat... usually after 30 seconds they forget theyre wearing one..
Ive done jewish weddings where ive planted mics in and around the Houppa.Orthodox where ive put a mic on the alter itself Hanging from teh table cloth, Muslim Afghan where we had the mic AND trnasmitter wrapped in the grooms turban...

Im tired.. time for sleep..

Yeah, me too - twice. I think this is some silly-assed edict by the Pope and was really meant for the Photog and his flash. Both times I simply closed my LCD screen and pretended to shut down. With the red LED recording light turned off nobody's the wiser and I filmed anyway. I felt like shouting to the priest for him to hold the fort for 5 minutes while I ran upstairs to shut off the balcony cam.

My approach.. I never ask permission of clergy in the first place - it only gives them the chance (or power trip) to say no. Go in there confident and acting like a pro, don't be timid, noone will mess with you.

Other than that, I hide / setup stuff before anyone else gets there.
