Re: Price drop on C300
Yowza. This just shows how over priced their camera's are and such a price drop is just an insult to anyone that bhought the camera before the price went down, that should have been the price of the c300 to start with.

Re: Price drop on C300
Don't think so. After all, Sony F7 is $8000, and completely outclasses the c300.

Pre-successor price drop I'd imagine. Clear the stocks before NAB announces the mark ii.

Re: Price drop on C300
wow..big drop..so tempting..but...what would the C300 MKii bring to the table? 4K? what else you guys think? I have used (but don't own) a C100 and the pic quality is good..the C100 MKii looks to have some improvements but not in pic quality really...but they are so MUCH better than my current Canon 70D even with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens.
is this C300 still a good camera even without 4K? When will Canon for sure announce the C300 MKii... hmm...perhaps I should stay away from the B&H website for a few days! E

Re: Price drop on C300
TBH for wedding use a C100 is ample if not better as it's smaller & lighter. For the price of the C300 price you can buy two Mk 1 C100s from B&H & if you are shooting weddings you will need at least two cameras otherwise matching any other cameras to the stellar image quality of the C100/C300 will be awfully difficult.

Re: Price drop on C300
I agree with Nigel that the C100 is an amazing camera for weddings. It's a beast in low light, has built in NDs and XLR inputs, 12 stops of dynamic range, very user friendly, and the image is extremely sharp and detailed. For $3K you'd be getting a heck of a deal on a really nice camera. For $500 more you can get the continuous autofocus which is VERY helpful for event videography.
The C300 tends to work very well for corporate work as it can output 10 bit 4:2:2 via HDSDI, has a better internal codec, and also has lots of pro features that are not on the C100. However, for weddings you would be better off with a C100 and an Atomos Ninja Star. |

Re: Price drop on C300
True! If you don't need 50Mb/s for shooting for the BBC, C100 looks like the better proposition.
Second-hand, even more so. If the C100 Mk I is now $3000 on B&H, what does that drive eBay sales down to? $2000 or less? |

Re: Price drop on C300
That is an astonishing price drop and I would certainly be upset. That is the difference of doing a few wedding/event jobs for some of us.
