Mark III Raw Hack - Some Wedding Samples
Hey everybody,
For the last couple of weddings we've shot we tip-toed into using the Magic Lantern raw video hack as part of our workflow. Just wanted to share some examples of the insane clarity we've been getting for our exteriors. This most recent one below is one frame of the video from the Wychmere Beach Club in Cape Cod. Even with the sun blaring into the lens you can still see the white sign perfectly illuminated. Anyone else been using the hack? How far will you take it? http://i.imgur.com/oCkmFqp.png Here's another completed highlight film using some raw video: |

Looks great Christian, is the workflow not a hassle? like how many cards do you need during a wedding compared to shooting regular h264? And is the hack stable enough for you to trust shooting a once in a lifetime event? I would be a bit nervous. :)

Re: Mark III Raw Hack - Some Wedding Samples
Thank you Noa. Currently yes, the workflow is a little bit of a hassle, which is why we're only using the hack for exteriors at the moment. The files are quite large and it takes a few hours to convert everything to Apple ProRes. So far we've only needed to bring 1 64gb CF card (Komputerbay 1000x) for each wedding. Usually we're shooting between a dozen or two dozen solid exterior shots.
If and when the workflow improves we will most definitely be doing our photo sessions in raw... perhaps sooner :) |
