GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Just wanted to share a recent wedding vid I shot
New 12mm from Olympus worked great with the glidecam, AF was VERY reliable. Thoughts? |

Stunning video Gary, you've got skills, my friend. Please tell me what lens you got the closeups with? 12mm is my favorite lens, but the other lens you used matched it perfectly.

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Thanks
Other lenses used: 25mm 1.4 Leica (the four thirds one, NOT the new one - rented that and the 12mm from Lensrentals.com). 25mm is GORGEOUS and not sure if the new one can stand up to it or not - someone PLEASE CHIME IN if they've tried both. Used for the Ceremony for reaction shots and processional. Used a lot for bridal prep as well, with sparing use for the reception. 57mm Hexanon and 85mm Rokinon for most of the reception. 85mm rokinon on the right camera for Ceremony. The dinner shots head closeups were the Rokinon for the most part. |

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
I am waiting for the 25mm Summilux, it's not out yet, is it? I'm also waiting for delivery of the 45mm f/1.8, and I think I would use it as you use your Rokinon. Not as long, not as much reach, but still should be effective. The season is over soon, so I'm getting slightly antsy about September being over and it's not arriving yet.
Meant to say you really know your camera settings and you do some amazing matching in post, the footage looks like it was mostly shot with the same lens, matches so well. You are the GH2 master!

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Thanks, yeah looking forward to the new 25mm as well (or the nokton - still deciding).
Pretty much any lens matches well IMO so long as it's good - good flare control/contrast etc. |

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that someone in Japan found the new 25mm to be superior to the older one, for the fact that it was M4/3, had auto focus, etc, and they seemed to like the IQ very much, but I don't remember where I read it, etc. I personally am hooked on M4/3 lenses, I love the auto focus on the 12 and 20mm, it's just so convenient.

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Thanks I'll have to check that out. 25mm I used just had that pop in sharpness and color...almost 85mm 1.2 ish (not that that comparison makes much sense) minus the bokeh. $900 is too pricey for a 1.4 but after using it I do see they put plenty of effort into it and definitely like the 4/3 25 better than the Canon 50mm 1.4

Gary, please tell me the name of the artist for your songs in the video. I am absolutely desperate for something nice for my current project, and your music is perfect for this bride. Help!

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Thanks so much. I used to spend tons of time looking for music, but I'm so behind with my work I've not found anything new for months, and my collection is really stale. I look them up!

Re: GH2 Hack wedding with new 12mm Olympus
Mark, it's a M4/3, and I don't see it there. It's Olympus 12mm F/2.0
