Copyright laws relaxed in UK

Whilst the news sounds good, it seems from the initial details to be released that it will do little or nothing to ease the requirements for our industry. None of the details yet released suggests there will be any change in the law regarding synchronisation and broadcasting rights and it's those that concern us most.

On the face of it synchronisation will still be covered by the PPL scheme and posting copyright music on the Internet for uncontrolled viewing will still be "broadcasting". Pity but then any change to these areas wouldn't have yielded a cent in extra revenue for the music industry.

The areas which do seem to be affected make it legal to copy a CD for yourself or for your family members so in reality it would seem to be removing the illegal tag and stigma from something that's been going on since I was a lad (cassette copying then).
