Contract Clause for SDEs, what should be in the contract?
Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone of you can share clauses or things that should be on an SDE. just want to know the ins and outs of what should be in the contract to protect both parties. i.e. - something happens to your laptop and wont be able to show it,shooter/editor dont show up, etc.etc... If you can share anything, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Contract Clause for SDEs, what should be in the contract?
I don't know about weddings, I don't have the nerve to offer that as I do so much on the day I wouldn't want to cope with the worry of it, but I do these for business bonding days where the pressure is much less and the expectation less emotional. For example a golf day. I edit during dinner and it gets shown as part of the after dinner speeches.
My contract stated that I will not be liable for anything out of my control; weather restricting play for example, or power going down, or any equipment that the client or third party supply. If my equipment breaks or cards fail or I fail to have it ready at the agreed time then I accept liability up to the contracted price for the job, i.e I don't get paid. That has never happened. The only time that it wasn't shown was when a hotel's projector attached to the ceiling malfunctioned and nobody was able to repair it in time. It ended up being watched on my 14" TV/DVD combo. This was so long ago, now of course I would upload it to my server and everyone could watch it on their own laptop or iPhone. I carry spares of everything, including laptop and also a projector, though I rarely include in the contract that it will be shown with my projector, it's there just in case. |
