Iriver to record line out of mixers? at DVinfo.net

Hello I have an IFP-790 Iriver, have anyone tried to put a cable from mixer's lineout to iriver's line in? have learned that with this iriver you can select from mic input to line input. TIA

Although some have succesfully captured an acceptable recording (I once and ONLY once) using the iRiver in this process, I would not recommend it without some way of verifying how "hot" the signal is feeding the line input.

The iRivers have established themselves as slick gadgets and work superbly for capturing voice and I may be partly responsible (Glen can attest) for their popularity in the wedding videography world. However, their lack of any reference metering on the input leaves much to be desired. (can only expect so much out of a $100 or so consumer piece of gear. With that said tho...Sound Professionals do market a device to meter the input and plugs into the headphone jack

M-Audio's Microtrack 24/96 looks like the "ticket" for this type of recording (can't wait for mine to arrive!)

that's a nice gadget, it was connected to the headphone out of iriver right?
would there be any possiblity of damaging the iriver(without level meter) with this process of capuring audio from mixer's line out? is it possible to just lower the line in level of iriver? thanks Mark. Maybe Glen would also give comments on how he succesfully capture audio with irivers. :)

I would like to buy an IRIVER . I'm using Pinnacle 9 Plus , How do I capture audio from IRIVER to STUDIO PLUS ?

You dont really have to "capture" the audio. It is simply a file transfer and conversion between you computer and IRiver.

Iriver comes with a software to convert from the iriver format to mp3, after transferring the files to your pc, you simply plug it in your editing suite's music track. hope this helps
