Vimeo upload question

I've just stared using Vimeo and I want to know if I should upload full res videos and let Vimeo compress them, or compress them first, then upload. What are your thoughts? If you compress first, do you have any magic settings that work well. I've followed the recommendations on the Vimeo sight, but they seem pretty generic.

Thanks

Compress with these settings: Compression guidelines on Vimeo and upload

There are some tutorials here for the editor you are using:
TUTORIALS: Vimeo HD exporting guides from many editors in the Help Forum on Vimeo

I followed these exactly and get great results. They are very specific.

I have always followed the Vimeo guidelines too and have been very happy with the results.

If you're using Premiere CS5, it has a Vimeo HD export preset that looks lovely. One click and you're done.
