Hey Jim,
I liked the CK93 for it's size and frankly when I got the 93 some years ago I didn't even see the 98. I'm sure it was there. The other thing is the 93 was highly recommended by folks here. I used to use a shotgun but it just didn't get the sound I was looking for. I pretty much use the 300/93 for my fallback mic. As for setting up a receiver to get the DJs mic there are some inherient challenges at least around my neck of the woods. 1st most DJs around here use VHF, I use UHF and I really don't want to carry another receiver. 2nd, most every DJ I've worked with just in the last 10 years really DON'T know what frequency they are running on. When I used to ask they would look at me like I had 2 heads with 3 eyes. Many of them use systems that are built into their DJ system so they don't even know where to look. Now believe me I'm not dissing DJs, I've worked with some great professionals over the years, friendly, great MCs, the event moves at a good pace...all of that but ask them tech specs and you might as well be asking my 2 year old granddaughter or for that matter any of my grandkids. You know that blank stare a few words mumbled and then off to do something else. Nope, I'll keep doing what I've been doing getting good results with no hassles and no one else having control over my audio.
