Sandisk Firewire Reader Not recognized on Laptop?
Hi guys,
I have a new laptop, and was thinking that I will be able to transfer files through my firewire sandisk reader. It has 6 pins, but the laptop has 4 pin. Now I bought an adapter, then it fit, but I found out it doesn't turn on the firewire sandisk cf reader. Do you guys know how to make it work? Or experience on how you got around this? thanks

If my memory serves (I went tapeless... what's a firewire <wink>!) the 6 pin has power on it, thus two more pins, and why your adapter now fails to turn the reader on.
Any chance the reader has an internal power supply/battery that it could run off of? That's the only thing I can think of offhand. Maybe take a look at whatever manual was included (or find it online), and see if a 6 pin is required, in which case you won't be able to use the 4 pin (which probably works fine for cameras... 4 pin to 4 pin). |
