Second Lav, need suggestions.
I have this Sennheiser Lav system, except in G2 instead of G3 series.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/618738-REG/Sennheiser_EW_100_ENG_G3_B_Evolution_G3_100_Series.html Thinking of getting a second set and not sure if I should get something in the same freq range so I have backups, or get something in a different range. Also, they do not offer the G2 Series anymore. If you had this set, and were going to add a second Lav setup, what would you buy. Thanks |

Denny, since we have different issues re frequencies in the UK I'm going to leave others better qualified to answer your specific question. What I would suggest though is that you buy identical or very similar microphones, regardless of the makes and frequency of the channel. That was advice passed to my an experienced sound expert in one of our leading UK broadcasters.
Another point I was unaware of is that the length of the cable from the mic to the plug is critical also. If you buy a mic without a plug it's important to minimise the length of cable used for the termination. My guess is that these make small differences the cumulative effect of which may be detrimental to the set up's overall performance. |
