Firewire switchers

Nate sorry to jump in on this thresd it looks very interesting as I am the head of the AV dept in my church. I have bben recording the video on a DVX100A for NLE edit but was lookinging into getting a second as the picture is incredible. I wanted to do the same thing mentioned here and do live switching w/ the cams. I was looking at a firewire switcher but as you stated firewire is not good for long runs, what do you think of the firewire transmitters that run over cat 5? How are they
