Under these circumstances, I thought you did very well. You continued to be civil even though he was rude to the extreme.
By far and large Photographers and videographers get on usually very well, but there is always one somewhere. I have only met one photographer that was rude towards me and very sarcastic, not as bad as the one you came across. But this person was rude also to the guests. He even put one finger up at a small 9 year boy who was part of the bridal party. One of the Bride-maids came to me and said, never would I book him for my wedding, he's so rude. |

At the end of the day I sat down for a beer and a chat with the castle owner, leaving her some business cards and chatting about the day. I said it was a lovely day, except for the photographer. She replied, "Oh he is always like that, he is very highly strung". I replied that he needed to be strung up.

I'm surprised the venues haven't blacklisted the guy... if he hasn't already ruined "the day" for some unfortunate Bride & Groom, it would seem only a matter of time. You'd think word would get around and he'd have to find other work... and to dress with a total lack of respect to boot??

one day he's going to meet the wrong videographer, say something and then the only way he'll be able to take pictures will be to turn around, bend over and squeeze his cheeks together.
Surprised it hasn't happened already. He's not highly strung, he's rude, disrepectful, obnoxious and frankly an embaressment and sooner or later it will catch up to him. Someone is either going to hurt him in ways he can't even dream about OR the B&Gs will get tired of his antics and find someone else to hire. NO ONE is that good to have to put up with that. Of course I'm just a cranky old man early in the morning and haven't had my full compliment of coffee yet but I LOVE guys like that.

Highly strung?
He's an A**hole. Pure and simple. Someday soon, there will be a great Karmic event, and it will all catch up with him... Ben |

"high strung"? Nope, definitely the wrong word... there's intensity and there's anti-social - this guy would rate the latter. You can be tightly wound (in fact I suspect it's almost required to be really good at nailing "live" events), but still be thoughtful and respectful of others. When working a wedding, you're all a part of a TEAM that is supposed to make someone's day go smoothly and without a hitch if at all possible, there's no excuse whatsoever for rude, thoughtless behavior.
I really cannot imagine a reason to rate a poorly dressed, rude, foul, obnoxious fellow "highly". Considering he's apparently crossed more than a few people, it's surprising he doesn't have a monopod related injury. |

Wow sorry to hear about the trouble you had with that photographer. Im abit worried now as I do weddings in Devon and I might come across him one day.
I think you did the right thing, at least you managed to get nearly all the shots and not stress out the bride with your issues with the photographer on the day. Its incredible how he can keep getting business with that sort of attitude though. Hopefully none of us will have to come across him again any time soon, but thats probably wishing to much. |
