mixing cameras

I apologies if this is in the wrong place for this post

Basically i own a sony HVR v1, i am looking to get a cannon xh a1 for backup and my night shooting. ( wedding dance)

Does anyone know if these will work together, picture wise and workflow????

Luke, I mixed up Sony Z1, FX1 with Canon cameras,
you can do that, still have to do some color correction in post..
