Live/Post monitoring: XH-A1 & FCP
About to take the plunge and get the Canon XH-A1, but not sure yet of the best way to monitor in Post ....
I use Final Cut Studio and am looking at the Matrox MXO with either an Apple 23" ACD, or perhaps the Dell 2407PFW.. Anyone using either of these ..? Thanks, Rgds, Ross. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

I use two 23" Apple Cinema displays and love them; one for full screen preview and one for the FCS application windows.
The Dells just went on sale, and are also nice : <http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productlisting.aspx?c=us&category_id=6761&cs=04&l=en> |

23" Acd
Dick,
...two 23" displays... with the Matrox MXO..? How does the MXO perform.. as well as the press reports..? As a matter of interest, what HDTV do you use to review your work? I'm looking at getting the Sharp LC-32GP1U AQUOS 32" 1080p TV. I'm interested to see how it behaves via DVI from my PowerMac.. Any thoughhts / recommendations? Thx, Rgds, Ross.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

No, I don't use a MXO, just using the graphics card in the Mac.

Just read the rest of your post. I suspect you're going to be working at a higher level than I am. I don't even own a HDTV at this point. Most of my work is still being sent out at DV rez.
As edit monitors, the Dells are getting good reviews on the FCP-L editor's list in a recent thread. It's a worthwhile list, lots of good info, but more uh, boisterous than this forum. They've also been discussing the current state of the art in HDTV monitors, so you might find some useful information there by joining and searching the recent archives. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FinalCutPro-L for more info. |
