Noisy Headphone out on TV at DVinfo.net

I just bought a 14'' Toshiba flatscreen CRT (model 14AF45C) to use in my editing suit (I know, not a pro display, but main reasons are just to have a larger display to edit on and show clients what I'm doing). The picture is great, but audio is a different matter.

I'm trying to use the headphone out to monitor audio and it sounds horrible - it's filled with a loud buzzing/humming sound that I just can't get rid of and at this level, the headphone out is unusable.

At first I thought it was interference from my CRT computer monitor right beside it, so I switched it off, same problem. I then suspected my ZR-45 that I'm using as a capture deck may have issues, so I switched it off, buzz is still there. It also occurs in all the AV inputs whether something is plugged into them or not. Finally, I thought maybe there's just too much stuff plugged into the circuit in this room, so I ran an extension cord down the hall to another outlet which I *think* is on another circuit - same noise.

So what's the problem - I've tried everything short of physically moving the TV (which I'll try tomorrow when I'm less tired) and the headphone out is basically unusable. I really isn't a huge issue to run the audio outs from my camera to something else, then plug headphones into it, but I'm wondering if something's wrong with the TV, or if they're all like that - does anyone know what could be wrong with it? Should I exchange it, or as a consumer TV, should I just be happy with the image and find another solution for audio?
