LCD Edit Monitor?
I am considering one of the following HD LCD monitors for my edit bay:
1. Viewsonic N2050, 20in. 2. Samsung 22in 3.Toshiba 20HL85 20in. 4. Dell W1900, 19in. Any opinions, or other suggestions? I will be using the HD Component inputs only! Will be viewing 1200X720P output. Thanks Gary |

I have a Samsung 22" 1280x720 LCD TV/monitor. I like this screen, but I imagine there are better ones available today (got mine two years ago). It has DVI, component, s-video and composite inputs plus a built-in tuner. So I have it connected to my Mac via DVI for the times that I want to use it under digital cinema desktop when editing HDV in FCP, my Z1 plugs into component input #1, my DVD recorder plugs into component input #2 and my VX-2000 or PDX-10 plugs into the s-video port.
The only downside is that I don't find it very useful as a computer monitor. 1280x720 on a 22" screen makes things look a lot like the "large print edition." Not a whole lot of pixels for a 22" screen, especially as it sits next to my Apple 23" LCD with 1920x1200 on about the same size screen. |
