800x480 7" Monitors?

Are they even worth getting? Looking to get a 7" monitor mostly for framing and focus.

Nope.

Go 1280x720 for 7"+ They aren't that much more expensive and you'll be glad you did. The lower resolution just isn't helpful for critical focus, especially on today's large-sensor cameras.

Re: 800x480 7" Monitors?

That's what I suspected.
How about the 1024x600 ones?
Looking for cheapest option until I can afford the Odyssey 7Q...

Better, I'm sure.

For a affordable monitor, I've heard real good things color-wise and feature-wise about this one, the ikan VK7i: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/903389-REG/ikan_VK7i_E6_7_IPS_LCD.html

Been eyeballing the Ikan monitors, but they don't seem to be readily available here in Europe...

Not to push your towards it in any way as I haven't used it myself, but FYI via official ikan dealers: A. F. Marcotec Onlineshop - Ikan VK7i Field Monitor w/ Loop Out

Thanks for the link. Leaning more towards the Ikan VH8. Like the uncluttered design... And it's cheaper ;)

Re: 800x480 7" Monitors?

I had the same required as yourself a few weeks back and picked up a discontinued Limelite M7 7” HD Field Monitor that I use with Canon LP-E6 Batteries. Calmut have them in stock with a hefty discount.

Note this monitor has been superseded by the Limelite M7Plus+ HD Field Monitor at more than twice the price. Hence the discount.

Has anyone used the Aputure VS-3? It's 1024x600 resolution but has a very streamlined design and weighs only 368 grams.
