HP Mobile Workstations with DreamColor
These powerful notebook PCs seem to offer a great solution for editing video or stills (switchable color spaces include Adobe RGB and Rec 709) and can be bought for about the cost of the full-sized DreamColor monitor. They are also "ruggedized" for field use:

Re: HP Mobile Workstations with DreamColor
Hi Pat,
if you dont need mobile editing, ie you can get away with editing later on, i would say save the difference between one of these and a calibrated nice monitor on a serious editing machine. I review stuff, do my cuts etc on a laptop, but finish colorwork and editing on a dedicated machine with a calibrated monitor. I still use an ancient CRT calibrated monitor for color correction; no substitute for the right gear. What are your needs? do you do mostly field editing or can you cut/edit a bit, and then correctly edit/deliver later? thats a decent chunk of cash to put down for very specific needs. |
