Should I get a SmallHD DP4 EVF

Hi, I am on the verge of getting the above EVF. I am a documentary film-maker and use a Panasonic GH3. Would people recommend this EVF or is there other better options for the price.

Also I am in the UK, don't seem to be able to find anyone selling it, anyone know of a reseller?

Re: Should I get a SmallHD DP4 EVF

I have one. It's a nice monitor with good features for the price. SmallHD has excellent customer service, but as far as I know, they only sell direct from their own website. The EVF is nice and solid, and the monitor has HDMI in and outs, peaking, false colors, zoom, etc. The color isn't perfectly accurate in my opinion, but its certainly close enough to know how your shot is going to look. I use the 4" monitor without the EVF more frequently than I use the whole setup, but it's nice to have in case you're going outside. It also comes with a nice sun hood I like using a little more than the EVF - makes for a lightweight and simple client monitor in the field. 2x aftermarket EP-L6 batteries run it for about 3-4 hours.

Re: Should I get a SmallHD DP4 EVF

I know several folks that are very happy with their DP4, and I think the battery solution is really convenient. I thought it was pretty big and wanted to keep my docu rig as small as possible, and I ended up getting this Kinotehnik:

Kinotehnik - LCDVFE: Overview

It's the smallest high PPI display I could find and reasonably priced. The battery solution might not be ideal for some, and the buttons are hard to press - otherwise it's great. The higher priced, no-compromise alternative is the Alphatron, which you've probably seen.
