When monitor obsolete?

I'm shopping for a broadcast monitor. This is an item I would like to use for years to come, which means it must survive future format changes, paritcularly HD. The model I'm favoring is a Sony PVM-14L1 with 600 lines that supports NTSC/PAL and 16:9. When HD reaches the prosumer camcorders, will this monitor function with the them. I know it's not capable of true HD resolution, but will it provide a workable image for framing shots and color correction? Thanks.
