HD-SDI or component
Wanting to get an lcd monitor for my EX3. Is there a big difference between component and Hd-SDI in terms of picture quality? I notice that the SmallHD only comes with component. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brian |

Component output will give you a slightly softer image. On a recent test from an EX1 to a Panasonic LCD field monitor you could clearly see the difference swapping between SDI and component. However, while I would prefer SDI I would be willing to use component on, say a SmallHD monitor.

In my experience, Analog component will travel much further than HD-SDI. Additionally, components for extending Component HD over RJ-45 (ethernet) are dirt cheap - while a cable for extending HD-SDI is $800.00+.
