22" widescreen monitor suggestions?
hey all!
just got my stimulus check and I need a new Monitor! at the moment, I'm looking at the Dell SP2208WF and the HP w2207 (or anything in that size or price range)...anyone have any experience with either of these. any input or reccomendations would be appreciated. fyi: I will be connecting the monitor to the mini dvi port on my macbook using (mini dvi to dvi adapter). And I will be using mostly for editing footage from an HV30 in FCP. thanks in advance. ~brendan |

This is much too late for you Brendan I'm sure, but your thread seems to invite me to announce that after years nagging many folks on these forums about how a monitor other than my pc screen might be of use to me, I recently invested in a Samsung SyncMaster T220HD. I am truly amazed and delighted at the improvement in picture quality, video and stills. OK it shows how awful my editing has been for years but that's no harm ... it's all for the better ... I hope you're happy with your choice too.

the samsung T220HD says "Full HD 1080P", yet the specs state "Resolution : 1680 x 1050".
I assume this means it can accept 1080 off air, since it has a built in tuner - but what if the output of my video card is sending 1080i ? I'm guessing that the the monitor interpolates the 1080i into 1680 x 1050? Anyway, I've heard that for that size monitor, interpolated HD still looks awesome. No advantages for a true 1920 x 1080 monitor display???? Vizio makes a 22" 1920 x 1080 for $300... |
