A separate subforum for the feedback threads?
Hey uwol friends
Since we are getting more and more feedback threads as the challenge goes on, would it be an idea to have a separate subforum for the feedback threads? (like the DVC has) |

I think thats a great idea Trond.
I would say if the Admen says its 'okay,' then we should do it... It would make things a lot cleaner looking IMHO. ~Gabriel

Something else I've done in other film challenges is they've allowed you to put up your thread for your film from the get go. That way it's almost like a production diary as you work on your film. Then when it's released it turns into a feedback thread.
Works out to be a great learning tool by seeing how everything worked happened. |

I actually kind of like that idea!! It is all about learning, isn't it?

It is nice to follow a production from concept to completion. Of course, it all depends on how much effort people are willing to put into it.

my initial response is that we need a better sign-up to completion ratio. it may be instructive to hear from people who don't finish, in one sense, but if 43 people sign up, and we get 27 completed videos (a rough estimate of how it typically goes...), then it could get a bit messy in these parts. i think "tales of wonder and woe" and the "shark tank" seem to attract the stories of those who don't finish...which is how i like it, at the moment...
consider that any of you, at any time, are welcome to post threads here (and some of you already do, like per's excellent blow-by-blow of his challenges with his new jib, for instance). so if regular players want to put up production diaries, please do. i think it would be a wonderful addition, along with "making of" videos--who in these parts doesn't like to see cameras at work?? but i think if we combine the feedback threads with production diaries, we may end up with a bit of chaos and confusion about who the finishers are. i don't want people who want to offer feedback on completed videos to have to sort through a bunch of threads on incomplete videos. it is time-consuming enough to offer thoughtful feedback to just the finishers.... the feedback thread is sort of like your reward and privilege for having completed the Challenge... personally, i'd like to see everyone post more stills in "tales of wonder and woe"--definitely an under-utilized feature here at DVinfo! |

Good Morning:
I like Meryems logic on the mess that could be created if we mix the feedback with a diary, however I still like the seperate feedback area if only those that complete can start a thread. My 2 cents. And yes I would like to see more pictures as well. Brian |
