UWOL#61 "SNOWSHOING" by Geir Inge B. Brekke
Here is my movie about snowshoes.
Due to the weather conditions, I had to change my original plan. We have had rain, storm and wind with hurricane strength, not the best weather to record in. The video has an old clip from 2020 of 11 seconds, which shows that I walk in deep and loose snow. It's all filmed with my Air 2s drone, my GoPro 8 and the clip of the red deer passing with my Sony PXW-FS5. Hope you feel like going on snowshoes. I look forward to your comment. |

Nice film!
Looks like you do the same kind of trips using snow shoes as I do skiing, (With the same multiple layers of heavy clothes.) Filming and story, well made. |

Hi Geir, enjoyed warching. Walking with those shoes on in the snow must be very energy sapping even though they are designed to ease walking through deep soft snow. A well put together film from the start where all the gear you needed was displayed. That seqence drew me in to keepwatching to see what your your adventue entailed. Well done.

One day I'm definitely having a white xmas, all this snow is really inviting (I'll most probable winge about the cold)
love the use of the dolly zoom @30s - is that due to having the mavic zoom lens? and the way it tracked you around. It looks like a wonderful sport and you gave us a real glimpse into the prep and the walk itself - thanks |

Thanks for the comments Trond, which I really appreciate
Hi Mick, so cool you liked my movie. Yes, in my opinion, it is more energy-intensive to go on snowshoes than, for example, skiing. It's been a little over a year since I had a stroke, so walking on snowshoes is great exercise in so many ways. I was actually supposed to make a film about everything that goes wrong when you are out in the field and making recordings. I had to discard that plan due to bad weather. Still, I had some footage of me walking on snowshoes, even though I did not have a plan B, I delivered a plan B anyway. Hi Paul and thanks for the comments. I have the DJI Air 2S, which is nice to have in many situations when you are out in the "bush" and making recordings. Or should I rather say "out in the field"? Walking on snowshoes is an excellent sport and good training. You are most welcome to Norway to celebrate white Christmas. Attached a clip ment for plan A, is when I crashed my drone. I forgot to plan the flight, as well as the altitude and things that stood in the way of the drone. Sometimes you wish you had an assistant with you. |

Hope your drone survived. I tried to cut some trees with my first drone. Tree survived, the drone needed new propellers.
Don't know about the Air 2, but my Mavic 2 zoom does not have proximity sensors on the sides. Pretty stupid decision by DJI. |

Fortunately, the drone survived.
It has sensors at the back, front and up, but not on the side. Yes, that's very stupid of DJI. |

Geir, I really enjoyed your entry. It was like some of those "What's in my Bag" videos that some photographers post on UTube except you did it with snowshoeing gear. I remember having all that stuff when I used to go cross country skiing in northern Idaho. Of course, that was a little over 40 years ago. You did a fine job going into all the detail about equipment, clothing, snacks, etc. You even went into detail about the length of the poles. Very well done. Oh, I also watched the footage of your drone. Glad it survived. Bob

I'm glad to hear your drone survived. I liked your video. I've never had to wear snowshoes, or even walk through snow. Maybe one day I'll be able to experience what it's like and if I do, I'll remember about ski poles with the snowshoes.
