UWOL 59 - Tales of wonders and woes
As always, interaction between the players is encouraged.
The good, the bad, the ugly... What goes great, what did not go as planned, and everything in between, about the making of your UWOL59 films. Remember the ultimate goal and purpose of UWOL, is to push your own limits, to improve your own skills as film makers. And of course to have fun at the same time. Don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions. Pay special attention to rule 11: Have fun! |

Re: UWOL 59 - Tales of wonders and woes
I've actually got a couple of ideas and even in lockdown here in NSW I should be able to access them. the 2nd idea came when the local Bush Fire Brigade did a burn-off just up the road. I tried to map waypoints on a drone to fly the same path and run it every 3 or 4 days to show the regrowth over time but DJI defeated me and keeps giving me obstacle warnings (it's a narrow path and I'm flying 2 metres above ground) I've given up on the drone idea and am just using a gimbal and trying to follow the same path each time. fingers crossed there is sufficient regrowth before the comp ends.

Interesting idea, Paul! How about turn off the drone sensors and fly manually the route?
I might get a chance to film at least parts of my entry tomorrow. Wind and no rain forecasted. Fingers crossed. Hope everyone has found an idea by now. Good luck, and have fun! |

I was thinking about that, but the advantage of flying waypoints was an easily repeatable path with smooth transitions.

Re: UWOL 59 - Tales of wonders and woes
It looks like I won't have anything this time. I wanted to shoot with something different last week -- a DJI Pocket 2 -- on a trip into the jungle along the Rio Madre de Dios, but the camera was stolen within a couple of hours upon arrival. I really wasn't overly upset about losing the camera as I don't use it a lot, but the memory card was inside. Also, I didn't take anything else with me to film as it was a minimalist trip so I was out of luck for a few days -- had a great time, but my plans for filming went down the drain.
I'm still looking forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Hi Philip.
Sad that you lost your Pocket Camera, but you can always replace it. It is worse with the contents of the memory card. Too bad you do not participate in this round, I was looking forward to seeing your contribution. Let's hope you come back stronger next time. May the force be with you :) Geir Inge Last edited by Geir Inge; October 3rd, 2021 at 02:26 AM. |

Re: UWOL 59 - Tales of wonders and woes
Looks like we failed. Weather for the past two months has been static. We were hoping to produce a film about wins but we had Pure blue sky or mist. The sea has been flat. We've had a bit of rain during the nights. So we have had two months of calm Weather, expecting big storms next month. So I've spent most of the time on the beach snorkeling with my soon.
Enjoy a few images the garden, beach and kitchen window. |

Hi Mark, too bad you do not participate in this round, and that the force did work against you.
That's the case when you work with nature, you can not predict the outcome. Your movies are always magnificent. I just uploaded mine today and it's about waterfalls. Hope to see many creative Uwol59 films about the force of nature. Regards Geir Inge |

Re: UWOL 59 - Tales of wonders and woes
I'm out - I was counting on capturing regrowth after a fire but I'd need another couple of months to really show the difference. I got my production assist out to film some crashing waves & surf action but she fell sick and didn't do the edit. one day, one day...
