Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
It has been a very wet month in Atlanta. Fortunately I was able to spend an afternoon at the Merritt Island NWR in Florida where some of this was shot. The rest was shot at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and in my yard. I used the Canon XF300 and edited on Vegas pro 16. Rate me using number 1 criteria!

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
Thanks for the peek inside the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Bob. My wife and I walked through Piedmont Park in May 2017 but our schedule did not permit us enough time for the Garden. It's definitely on our must-do list the next time we're in town, though!
Great work as usual, sir. |

Bob there is not much I can pick on. I'll have to watch it again to see what I can nit pick at. I always like the stories you have and of course the VO. Another nice video.

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
actually, that's pretty bloody good - "just because she could"
The basic question led us through the whole film and .. I forgot to take notes! I was engaged and wondering about the question, where was it leading? - great job |

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
Hi Bob!
This was a good one for sure! I enjoyed watching. You had a good story, backed up by the great visuals. Loved the transition into black and white, and then the end and conclusion nailed it. I like your calm, relaxed VO. Good sound levels for both the VO and music. Some of the shots were a tiny bit shaky, like the flowers at 0:21 and the blue frog at 0:58. I'm guessing handheld shooting here, as I'm doing a lot of handheld myself. Maybe Vegas has the "warp stabilizer" effect, which I use in Premiere? Sometimes that helps a lot. Well done! |

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
Hi Bob,
Another great entry with gentle narration that moved the film along at lovely pace. Well thought out interpretation of the theme with a story line that kept you hooked waiting for an answer, and one I wasn't expecting! There were at times some shaky footage, and some strange camera movements on tracking and zooms, maybe an area for to work on. But overall not enough to take away my enjoyment of watching it. Well done Bob Mick |

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
Hi Robert.
Congratulations, you deliver a well-composed film. Fine flow on the rhythm of the editing, the same goes for VO and music. Great plot and fun twist on the answer to your question. Not much to complain about, maybe some more variety of shots. A start that presents the story with some long and medium shots, an overview that provides background information. Plus some sounds from the creatures. Thank you for sharing. |

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
I thoroughly enjoyed this, Bob. More than anything else, the colors really jumped off my screen. I watched it on my laptop this morning and immediately watched it again on 4K TV just so I could take everything in. And it didn't look deliberately over saturated, either, as some videos I've seen on YouTube appear. Despite the bright, brilliant colors, everything still looked natural.
I would have preferred a little less hand-held movement, but that's my personal preference. (I had too much in my video.) The story progression was very well done (as was the VO that expressed the story) and made it much more than just a series of shots. |

A super film, Bob, I really thought you captured the theme, and made a story from it.
Nicely thought through and superbly executed- Thanks! |

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
thank you all for the comments. I really do need to use the tripod more but in some cases, like the Botanical gardens, it is not easy. I always like to weave a little story into my videos. I usually have no ideo what to say until I actually start putting it all together. I like to go out and just shoot a lot of video and then let the ideas start to formulate. Glad you all liked it, Bob

Re: Why Does Nature Speak in Color?
Bob I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one that works that way. My story never comes together until I start playing around with the footage.
