UWOL 48 - High and Low by Henry Williams Feedback thread
Hi All, Really enjoyed watching everyone's fantastic entries and look forward to writing feedback. It's been a fun cpmpetition so thank you to Trond for organising and encouraging us to get out there and film! Here's the feedback thread for my entry. A slightly more personal story than I'm perhaps used to telling but hope people like it. H

Henry, what a great video. Your colors were so vivid and the music was spot on perfect. I must say that I particularly taken by your macro shots. Wish my XF300 could do that. Great entry. Bob

Hi Bob, thanks so much for the kind words! Im really pleased you like the film. The macro shots owe more the surprisingly effective raynox 150 lens attachment than any innate skill on my part ;)

Hi Henry,
You are absolutely right, being outdoors in the nature and filming, is medicine for the mind. Your close up shots, are amazing! Absolutely stunning! The story was quickly established, and the film was a pleasure to watch. Cool to see you in front of the camera as well. Nice choice of music. It matched well with the visuals and made a calm, relaxed mood. To enhance your film, I would have liked to see some wider shots mixed with the close ups. Well done! |

Thanks so much Trond! Filming wildlife is something I've only really started to take seriously in the last year and it's been an unequivocally wonderful experience in every regard (cold fingers not withstanding!).
I agree with you about the wides. I was struggling to find a nice angle that didn't identify my house but now I think about it there is one I could get a good slider shot from. Might slot that into the film after the competition is over.

Hi Henry,
Great job. I must say, I'm jealous of your macro shots! They came out quite better than mine did. I also like your spin on the high/low theme and your location on-camera audio was good. The only thing that came to me for improvement was the first time thru it started to feel a little long towards the end. Not sure exactly why, maybe because shots were similar like someone else already said, but that was just my first impression. Lovely footage though and nice video. |

Thanks Tim! Can't recommend the Raynox macro attachments highly enough. I was really pleasantly surprised by how good they were.
RE; The ending, I think I might have slipped into a slightly weird rhythm with the edit points on the last few shots which probably isn't helping matters. I'll see if tweaking them speeds things up again, or if I need to chop out a system of the music and shorten the piece slightly.

Wow Henry, your interpretation of the theme really hit the mark. I agree that maybe you could have mixed in some wide shots but it was terrific.

Re: UWOL 48 - High and Low by Henry Williams Feedback thread
Thank you Paul. I greatly enjoyed making it. I've done a tighter edit with a new wide shot that I'll put up here after the competition has finished. Everyone's feedback has been most helpful.
