Shark Tank - uwol 33 - it's back!
Ladies and gentlemen, from the very first days of the UWOL challenge, the Shark tank was the place you splashed into if you signed up, but didn't complete a challenge. Whoever was the first to drop out, made the "shark tank thread" of that challenge, and then when people dropped out, they posted in the shark tank thread.
That way it was easier to see who was still in the game and who dropped out. Especially now, when everyone who sign up for a challenge, is a judge. Maybe this even gave an extra motivation to complete our entries and avoid swimming with the sharks? During the last few years, the Shark tank gradually got lost in space and has been hiding pretty well. But guess what... IT'S BACK! :) Starting right now with the current UWOL 33, the Shark tank is back in business! If you can't complete your entry, post in this thread. Oh, and it would be nice if you add a short comment about why you can't complete. Doesn't matter what reason you have. Maybe you didn't have time, or camera gear didn't cooperate... or weather... |

I guess I am in the water too. Time is the biggest factor as I spent over half of it tending to some family business. I will try again.

Me too i'm afraid. Thought this month looked promising for me to get an entry done, but in the end, work won out :(

Yep, I'm in the deep end again. I vaguely remember checking the theme half way through the month, and this is the first time I've managed to get back since then. It seems like work, work, work, is getting in the way. Video was supposed to be part of that work, but it hasn't happened yet!
I should be working now, but can't find the enthusiasm for it any more.

The tank seem to be full enough now.
Hope to see all of you again next round. |

Well, just to make it overflow a little!
Barring a time to get something today, I'm also in the tank! Lots of other things came up this month.... |

Re: Shark Tank - uwol 33 - it's back!
I'm in the tank as well.
This was the most planned idea I had since I did "The River" several years ago. My idea was about maple syrup. I wanted to do something that wasn't so much about magic hour light. Maple syrup is in a way golden sunshine in a bottle. Trees collect sunshine all summer long and through photosynthesis covert it into sugars. The sap from this spring was made the previous summer while the tree basked in the golden light. It's really an amazing process. The days have to be above freezing and the nights below freezing for the sap to flow. The nights stay above freezing, the sap doesn't flow. The trees bud and the sugary sap is changed to a nasty tasting starch. About 40 gallons of sap make up a single gallon on maple syrup. One degree too hot and it becomes maple sugar instead. So, I had a script, I had a shot list, I had people lined up in the sugar house and what happened? Well, it turned 80 degrees at the beginning of March. I was able to get some shooting in, but the warm weather dashed any hopes of a maple syrup film this year. So, I'll save the script and file it away in hopes that next March will be a more typical early Spring. When you think about all the hours it takes to make these treat, you really are talking about golden hours. |
