Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
Mike Sims, I like the way you think! All of the people you suggested for the various tasks look great to me. Hoping the ones who have not chimed in yet are game. And Trond, you are doing a wonderful job!
Keep it up, everyone...this is coming together very nicely because of your thoughtful input and eagerness to be a part of it. :)

Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
Hi Trond, many thanks for the emails.
To All, Would love to help out here. As I Indicated to Trond I have a lot of wildlife and some cultural footage from various parts of the world that I am willing to donate to the projects, also would love help out if required. I have listed the countries in an email to Trond as well as the Formats. You can see some of what I have available on our web site Home and on vimeo https://vimeo.com/user403697/videos. Other countries - Costa Rica, Peru, Borneo, Mexico, Mauritius , Tobago, Sri Lanka. Maybe when the the scripts start to come together I could let you know what I have that maybe suitable. My advice would be is to keep the final decision makers circle small. Mick |

Hey Mick; I see on your website that you have a photo of some Maasai jumping (was that Kenya or Tanzania?). Do you have any video footage of the Maasai, and if so do you have any of them in cattle kraals, and that sort of thing? If so it might be helpful as some 'b' roll footage for the Cattle Drive project. Cheers, Simon.

Obviously we can shoot together, it had been great. When are you planning to travel up here? I think I will prioritize the project; Collaborative#2 UWOL around the world. If there is time and effort I thought filming on Herdalssetra. Have been there several times, but never filmed there. Looking forward to hear from you. |

Your summarizing is just what I had in mind too, only had difficulty putting English words on it ;) I thank you also for the nice comment regarding my narration skills, it's the area I feel most insecure of, haha. Perhaps VO which can be performed by several operators? But sure, I can help with VO if you want me to - no problem ;) Perhaps it is easier to see when we start to get footage? I have a great deal of royalty free music, which can be used. In addition, I can also make an effort to compose a piece for the project. Of course this is easier when the project starts to take shape. |

Hi Simon,
Kenya - Amboseli and Mara. Also Samburu maasai who dress with more green (4x3 format) Have quite a bit of maasai in their bomas, spear throwing and dancing etc. Not sure how much with cattle in, will have a quick check for you tomorrow. Have close mid and close ups of sterilizing gourds etc. Quite a bit of them with goats (check out the Jakarna promo on our web site). Mick Last edited by Mick Jenner; April 28th, 2013 at 02:13 AM. |

Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
I am working on getting an "organizing team" up and running now.
That's the first task we need to complete, and then get a more detailed idea/theme of the core concept of the project, and take it from there. Very good to see all of you bringing so many good ideas and thoughts. So far, we have members from these countries volunteering: Australia Brazil Canada New Zealand Norway Uganda UK USA How cool is that! :) |

Hi Mike, Trond & Co
Unfortunately I am unable to participate in this project as co-script writer as I have already committed my time to creating a series of fifty mini tutorials for a company which is probably going to take a good part of the rest of this year for me to complete. |

Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
Just a thought that crossed my mind,
which I think might make it easier to stitch together a contribution? Have browsed through some feedback threads, and some tips and advice that are regulars, are cutting in different clips. Although both Uwol projects are in the early stages, maybe we should have a preliminary length of our contributions? Of course it depends on how many people eventually join, but 5 min each as a start, may do the trick? What do you think? |

Marj, good luck with your project. Sounds cool!
Geir Inge, You have some good thoughts there. 5 minutes seems like a good starting point to me. |

Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
I submit the beginning of my script.
The following will be a presentation of various species and locations, as well as an end. I have intentionally left out something about the project, as I am unsure how to do this. Nevertheless, it is something that can be arranged later, I believe? Anyone have thoughts on this? I am grateful for your feedback, and some English proofreading, please? My script (so far): I recall back in 2007, when the first "under water, over land" (UWOL) competition was held. It was exciting, overwhelming, and not least, challenging for me as an amateur wildlife videographer. Actually, it was my first steps into this world of diversity and creatures in the wild. It has given me a great learning curve and got me friends from all over the world to participate in Uwol. Especially in the way we give each other constructive feedback on our respective work. Incredibly rewarding and inspiring, I would say. Let me introduce myself, my name is Geir Inge B. Brekke and I'm Norwegian. I live on the west coast of Norway, in one of the world's most rugged shorelines. Fjords with steep mountains and thousands of islands, is making this the second longest coastline in the world. Only Canada has more coastline than Norway. In this world of steep bird cliffs and unpredictable seas, we find a vibrant and exciting wildlife, and some of this wildlife is what I will present to you now. So let's start at my birthplace, the island of Kvamsoy. Surrounded by several islets and reefs, this area was a few years ago, turned into a nature reserve. This is to preserve seabird that nests and lives here..... and so on... |

Re: Collaborative #2: UWOL Around the World
good afternoon
I was trying to catch up on all these posts, lots of interesting stuff. We need to accumulate an actual list of who is shooting footage, need to know how many before we can even set a time for how much footage. If I submit say some sharp tailed grouse footage and some prairie flora, I might have some ideas what I would like to hear in the naration the script writer will need to work with the participants to perhaps keep their conceptualization but still keep it within line with the overall theme. So, that means we will need to give them a fair amount of latitude as well. We have four continents represented by 8 countries, That is pretty darn cool!!! Technical stuff: Hd with the SD windows if appropriate sounded good. I think almost all editors deal with mxf format that may work more universally. moving the files shall be interesting, particularly if they are uncompressed. one real challenge will be having some continuity of the color in the videos!! also all video should be kept at broad castable ire levels!!! well, I am getting kind of excited about this project!!!

Geir Inge,
I like the script idea you presented, and I believe this fits pretty well with what Steve wrote earlier. |
