Hi Andrew
Well this was differently formatted to usual uwol films. It had more of a 'making of' feel to it. To me you should have pushed this still further and possibly added in shots of your setup and you making it more of a reality uwolers challenge sort of piece. As it was it sat in neither stable completely. I liked the contrast levels you got in your footage especially the opening shots! Your VO material was fine but the delivery was a little 'shy'....its a tough one and takes a lot of effort to get right. All in all a good film and welcome to the uwol finishers club....you'll never look back I promise you ;-) ! Mat |

Again, thanks to all for the feedback and comments.
Mat - I totally agree with everything you said. While I'm watching other people's entries I am definitely analyzing the different options and styles I could have applied... and now in hind-sight (and with comments such as yours) I see different avenues I could have gone. Which, as we all know, is one of the benefits to this event. Thank you once again, Andrew |

That was a nice film Andrew. You are self-critical and there is nothing wrong with that. I do the same thing. I got a chuckle when the racoon switched sides of the tree. Nice VO too.

Welcome to UWOL, Andrew!
Ah, the raccoon. My arch-nemesis. They pulled my chimney cap off and 5 of them tried to move into the roof over my bedroom, they fight and mate in the alley behind my house and throw trash cans all over the place. Last year, I got in a fight with one with my garden hose, ever since I soaked him good, the fighting in my yard has stopped. I think he was the bully of the bunch. And this one you shot looks so sweet and innocent, ha! They are amazingly intelligent animals. I enjoyed the way you wrapped your footage into the story of the pursuit. Agree with what the others say, you don't need to be so critical of yourself, this was a fine first entry. |

Hi and welcome to uwol Andrew.
Always exciting to have new people in. This animal is something we dont see in Norway. You have a good voice for VO but maybe next time tell a little bit more. Make a whole story, so to speak. Colours and editing is fine and I guess it's not easy to tell the animals to pose. Though I would have liked some more closeups of the animal and in this kind of video you easily could have used some cutaways for your own benefit. Good use of sounds from the field, could have lowered the volume a bit, maybe. Wish you all the best. Geir Inge |

Hi Andrew,
I watched your video twice, and simply loved it! Thanks for teaching me something new. You had a great story. I wish you had a few more different angles or close ups, but I understand that's not always an option. Keep up your good work. I look forward to your next one. |
