This is a really well-constructed, well ordered and beautifully captured video - I would say your best to date - John.
Your introduction sets the scene well and links directly to your conclusion. The middle demonstrates the transformation that progress has brought with it, along with some really beautiful compositions. My favourite is the clip of the headgear. You have given a very good overview of Johannesburg central with its unsightly office towers and mine dumps and busy streets and then in contrast, views of the beautiful scenery of the Magaliesberg north west of Johannesburg.
There is a sad air to this video - to match the sad reality of things gone forever and to what end - a big price we pay for progress. Let’s hope this does not become a continuing pattern, although judging by all the construction going on everywhere round here it looks like it is a trend likely to stay for some time. Your VO was very clear and easy to listen to although perhaps a bit too sad.
A small negative comment on this video would be the kikuyu grass and khaki bos in the lion enclosure - for me that did not work, knowing what true bushveld looks like. I also found your title a bit out of place - one with more of an African flavour would have done the trick here. Well done John - look forward to the next.

Hi John Dennis.

Great film and I loved the Lion shots.
I just wonder, is this the first lions in an uwol film?
If you for some reason can't use your tripod, a bean bag will be very helpfull in some situations. You can make your own with some rise/beans, a cloth, a needle and a tread :) Put it under your camera and it's steady as a rock (allmost).
All in all well put together.

All the best.
