it's really hard to find a single line that sums up the experience....we've kicked around some pretty good ideas and had some fun doing it, but i'm still jealous of "cheaper than film school" --because it is also witty. witty is always good, not entirely necessary, but it definitely adds...
the salient points of UWOL: 1) it's international 2) it's focused on nature and outdoors 3) you meet a lot of cool people 4) you learn a lot about making better video wish i could come up with a single line that encapsulates all of the salient points, but something is always left out. they don't call this a Challenge fer nuthin' --this is harder than making my NIGHT entry.... |

I think it's right there in front of you/us. UWOL - made by international cool people, making better nature and outdoors video. or UWOL Always the real thing, always (or; meeting) international cool people making better nature and outdoors video. As always my English gramma is a bit of a drawback for me. Geir Inge |

ok, this was a lot of fun. you guys had some great ideas and it was a lot of fun brainstorming. in the end, i think we are going with "our world, your vision"--mostly, because i want to put the slogan in every language of our players and this one should translate universally, whereas some of the more clever puns probably do not.... (if i'm wrong about that, i'm sure i'll hear about it!)
so now what i need is...translations!!! i need all of you norwegians, swedes, french, south africans, etc, etc etc. players to post translations here...and if i can't replicate the symbols of your language on my keyboard, would you please send me a high-resolution (300 dpi) version to my e-mail? uwol@comcast.net or hit dvinfo e-mail reply. gotta get moving on these t-shirts! |

Trond, yes that's what I was thinking about too, but I'm not sure if that's what Meryem is saying!?
The word vision - can we translate it to any other than "visjon" (norwegian)? Geir-Inge any thoughts?

I would say... don't translate. not to swedish, I want my Tee in English and I'm the only one from sweden (right now), so don't print i swedish.
Swedis ppl are international and don't mind english printed T-shirts. In Swedish the word "Vision" can be translated in to diferent words, same problem as in Norwegian. I guess that you guy from Norway fells kind of the same with english print or? Edit: And it looks cooler in English too ;) |

Markus,
yes, I agree. English is almost as common as our own language, must be because we are very small countries in population compared to US, England, France. Number of inhabitants in Norway is 4.5 million, a medium city in US I think ;-) Geir Inge, Trond and Vidar what do you think? PS! I was thinking of you Vidar when we had our meeting yesterday. Next time you will be there right?

Maybe the slogan could be "UWOL-cheaper than Planet Earth DVD box"
or UWOL-Life thro a lens or UWOL-World thro a Lens anyway... I you (meryem) don't really want to print (it would cost more) in multi language, I vote "print in English". Maybe print in french to, but then half of the world can read you Tee... Don't overwork it... |

I think what Meryem wants to do is to have the slogan translated into all the different languages of the people who have entered the challenge and have them ALL listed on the back of the t-shirt.
Kind of like you see a concert tour listing on the back of a shirt. so it would be something like: Our world, your vision vår verden, din visjon etc. I think that would give the shirt a real international flavor and show everyone how truly global UWOL has become. |
