Birds In Motion
I always wanted to go a fast paced video put to music. After 4 years I finally collected enough video to complete it. All the footage was shot with the GH3 and GH4 in 1080p and UHD 2160p converted to 1080. If anyone knows what this song is, I would really appreciate finding out. I also uploaded this video to Vimeo as 1080p QuickTime Movie, so if you have the speed you can select the quality to 1080p and view in full screen.

Re: Birds In Motion
Sounds like a typical YouTube music library type jingle Don, like the ones I often use and sometimes regret doing so!
I'd love to tangle with those birds, most of which are "exotica" to me, Ron ps GH5 does UHD slo-mo which very handy. |

Re: Birds In Motion
I know the GH5 does a lot more than the GH4, but it will be at least a year before I can think about one. I have been shooting in 4K nearly 100% of the time now knowing I can crop it if needed.

Re: Birds In Motion
How can you not know what the music is? If you don't know what it is, how did you come to have it, and how do you know you have the rights to use it? I know what the song is and the artist, but I'd rather hear you explain why you are using something you don't have clear title to? Perhaps you should take it down until you have the rights to use it? How would you like it if someone took your bird footage and started using it without your permission? What if the artist or record company decides to come after you?

Re: Birds In Motion
Doug,
I totally agree with everything you said. I found it on Vimeo and it was a video that the user allowed the option to download it. The user didn't list the music and it has been weighing on my mind not knowing who the owner was. If this piece of music was on a royalty free music site, I would be more than happy to purchase the rights to use it. I would be more than happy to take the video down, at least until I could legally use the music. I hate when any of my videos are hijacked, so I know where your coming from.....Don

Re: Birds In Motion
Don, nice work, I always enjoy your bird videos. On another note, I would suggest crediting the music you use and citing the type license granted in your videos. I do this on all my videos and was able to easily defend a music copyright claim made against me a while back.
This is a typical cite in my videos: "Music “Our Home” by Borrtex and is used under a Attribution-NonCommercial License." "Music “Minimalist Piano” by Phil Brooks. Licensed from Audiojungle invoice number 59793xxx." "Music “Emotions” by Akashic Records. Music license from Jamendo invoice #JAM-WEB-2016-0020xxx." There is so much good music out there that is available free for noncommercial use and others that cost less than $10. In very rare instances I have gotten written permission from the composer/performer and record company. Here are some of the sites that I get music from. Free Music Archive https://www.jamendo.com/ https://audiojungle.net/ By properly crediting the music you are protecting yourself from copyright infringement and giving the owner of the music the credit due.

Re: Birds In Motion
Doug,
Thanks for your response. I don't use a lot of music, and the music that I do use is offered from an artist or a music site for free, and I do follow the protocol they want in citing the song, artist and including their website. I entered one of my videos in a film festival and I wrote the artist who's song I wanted to use along with a copy of the video so he cold see how I used it, and he love the video and sent me a letter granting his permission to use his song, which I included when I submitted my video. I don't use music unless obtain it legally and with proper credit. This leads my to the next question, what is the song I used and is it available for licensing through a music website? I have also locked the video from public view and have saved that project so I can add the credit the song in case I find out what it is. If you have that information you can let me know via DVInfo or email me at <don AT birdsdesjardin DOT com> Thanks for the music websites, which I already browse along with a host of others. I have seen at least 3 TV commercials that are using the front end of that song. Best wishes.......Don

Re: Birds In Motion
Hey Don,
When I let my iPhone listen to your video it identified the song as "We Will Overcome" by Todd Singleton. Other than that, I can't say where you can buy it or whether you have used it legally. But as a matter of practice, it's not a good idea to use anything that you don't know exact where you stand legally.

Re: Birds In Motion
Doug,
That's it! https://soundcloud.com/regemark-film...e_instrumental It appears that it's a free download and sounds like if you use it on a public domain they ask you please add a credit and a link in the notes, but I look into it further just to make sure. Thanks, you made my day, and if you ever need bird footage for a video, it will be a no charge. Again, thanks....Don
