Underwater | Lembeh | Indonesia
Howdy
For those that would like to watch, here is my Lembeh, Indonesia clip. Shot with a little HDV Sony A1 in Amphibico housing and their new 95 degree wide lens. Cut up the raw HDV m2t clips in EDIUS as is. Don't fall asleep :-) |

Some very interesting subjects. You need a theme to tie it together. In one of the closing shots you showed a Lima with what appeared to be a flashing edge to its mantle. Was this the case or was it a trick of the lighting?

Some fab stuff in there! Loving the nudibranches and the frog fish! I'm not feeling all the zooms in the camerawork if its critique your after and some of the edit was rather snappy. Fantastic range of species!
Thanks for sharing. |

Thanks for comments guys.
Yes that was a flashing what ever in the last scene...lol I got lots more footage but wanted to cut up something abit different with lots of zooms. The new lens is 100% zoom through and its more of a challenge to nail a zoom pull underwater on the fly. :-) |

I sat here with my mouth open the entire video. Great stuff, and looks like a lot of current was making it harder to film.

Nice footage but I would have left out the couple shots where you're zooming in and out on things really fast. The trick to underwater filming is making it appear like the viewer is swimming there with you, especially when everyone has an HDTV which makes underwater footage look great. Slow down the speed you're zooming, and when you can, just swim yourself over to your subject. If you need to use zoom to achieve some DOF go for it, but the goal is be sort of "fly" around. Zooming in/out really fast creates some wobbly footage, which shouldn't happen underwater.
