Octopus Snatches Diver's Camera For Home Movie
Can't see much while the tentacles are around the camera, but still funny with the captions.

Hi Shayne,
Thanks for that, very interesting. Ever since my student days I have been curious about the anatomy of the male octopus. We were told that when mating the male leaves the tip of one its arms in the mantle cavity of the female. The modified tip of the arm contains packets of sperm and is known as the hectocotylus. I notice that one of the octopus arm tips in this sequence is noticeably different from the others, as hectocotylus pictures are hard to find on the internet I was wondering whether any one could confirm this? Perhaps this octopus found the camera attractive. |
