Sound Problem - Dual Mono VS. Stereo?

I recorded a bunch of hunting footage using my GL2's default microphone. It turned out great. Unfortunately I recorded some speaking later using a lav, using a beachtec and my shotgun mic. I turned off the shotgun mic duing the interview and mistakenly recorded the interview on only one channel.

When I go to listen to the interviews now it it is on only one channel.

My question is that when I edit this all together, do I want to put the interview and footage together and then place it on both channels, or should I place the inetrview footage on both channels first and piece the footage together after. In essence having the inetrview in dual mono and the footage still in stereo?

What will give me the best results?

Thanks,
Chris
