Second handle for 503

I just bought a 503 head and a remote control, so the original handle would be theoretically available to be mounted on the left side of the head... I would love the extra control a second handle would give me. The problem is, the remote control comes with no mounting screw, so I have to use the original mounting screw to attach the remote... I have a useless second handle.

Does anyone know if this mounting screw is available from a vendor? B&H doesn't seem to carry it.

Hello Ervin,

Can you use Velcro, and maybe Velcro straps, to attach the remote to one of the handles ?? I use this method to attach my two Infrared Remotes to my custom made extendable (2' to 4') control handles on my TriPods. It allows me to position them just where I need them. This way I can use either hand to control the Zooming. I can send you Pics if interested.

Maybe I need to be more specific. The remote control comes on a handle basically identical to the original one - so the original handle is no longer needed, I could use it as second handle on the other side of the head (the head allows to mount the handle on either side)... but there is only one mounting screw/assembly that comes with the head.

Hi Ervin,

I see your problem now. You might be able to find a proper screw at a hardware store, if all you need is a screw to finish the mounting of the handle.

I found years ago that standard control handles were simply too short for most of my use. I made up those 2' to 4' extendable handles (either single or double) for all 4 of my TriPods. Those dual handles are very nice for certain applications.
