I'm not familiar with the Bescor THM60, but the Libec M20 is perfect for the GL2.

chris,

in a windy situation will it hold well? i'm debating getting the libec or spending $200 more for the bogen (501) with sturdier/heavier legs. not sure if it would make a difference.

In a windy situation neither tripod is heavy enough to make much of a difference. Mid-level spreaders or braces help some in higher winds, but bean bags or sand bags are (or anything heavy, battery belt) what works best.

There are plenty of posts indicating that the M20 is a good choice for the GL2. It is probably too light for a XL-1.
